There is even a petition on Change.org that has garnered 912 signatures calling on Malawi to “Terminate diplomatic and economic ties with the apartheid State of Israel. ” among other 2 demands.
Some people have rightly asked whether it is sensible to send young people to a conflict zone, or to Israel with its poor human rights record:
Although some people have quoted the Minister of Information who in the video at the top of this article says that Israel has offered reassurances that he youths will be safe, and that labour export out of Malawi to various countries has been happening for a long time.
There are then those who are making an economic case in favour of the labour export:
Still, others are pointing out that Malawian youths will actually replace the Palestinians (and Thai’s) who have fled from those farms.
