Vendors in Malawi have Blocked Malawi Parliament’s main entrance.

Street vendors in Malawi’s capital city Lilongwe have blocked the main entrance to Malawi’s Parliament Building. They are protesting against the state of the economy.

The vendors say the cost of living is too high and the cost of bales has become unaffordable, and is making it difficult for them to run their businesses, or sustain themselves. They are asking the government to intervene immediately to address their grievances.

Motorcycle taxi operators have also joined the demonstrations, and together they are chanting songs, demanding that President Lazarus Chakwera should step down.

They say the president has failed to run the country’s economy, and needs to go.
